Reed Foehl “Lucky Enough”

Greetings!

Hope 2019 is off to a great start for you and yours.  Been a busy start to the year for me.  January saw me finishing up work on a few records that will come out later this year (Texas KGB, Mayeux & Broussard, Sour Bridges, Joseph Macht) and a light amount of time on the road.  We were on Delbert McClinton’s Sandy Beaches Cruise for the 7th consecutive year which is just an incredible honor and always a lovely time with incredible fellow musicians and many dear friends.  We also participated in the Mile 0 festival down in Key West this past weekend which was a great hang in a beautiful setting.  Also, Deadeye played Antone’s for the first time since it moved to 5th street and sold it out (incredible energy with the audience singing over the band most of the night). Mainly I wanted to share with you a record that just came out February 1…Reed Foehl’s “Lucky Enough”.  Reed is a marvelous songwriter and has become a great friend of all of ours in the BOH.  We’ve done many shows together over the last few years as we are both managed by Chad Staehly (truly a badass, as a person and musician).  Reed came down to Austin last winter with a whole bunch of tunes.  We worked for 9 days during which time we shared a lot of camaraderie, Tacodeli, and top shelf bourbon.  I recall that all of us were very impressed with what Reed brought to the table during the sessions, both in terms of the songs and the emotional content in his voice.  Hearing the record fresh this past weekend I was floored.  It’s really beautiful.   Hope you’ll find the time to give it a good listen.  It is definitely worth it.

Here is a nice review from Glide Magazine (they give the keyboardist a little love)

Before you go, here are some other recommendations for you:

Jeff Tweedy’s new book

John Hiatt’s Eclipse Sessions (the arrival of Yates McKendree, Kevin’s son, who at 16 sounds like a mix of Cornell Dupree and Freddie King.  This is probably, no definitely my favorite Hiatt record)

Thanks for dropping by.  Peace be with you!
